A few days ago, a single ticket purchased in New South Wales won a $30 million Powerball jackpot, the year’s second-largest Australian lotto prize. The lucky individual may not yet have realised they are Australia’s second-biggest lottery winner in 2023, according to Lotto officials. Spokesman Matt Hart said the lotto ticket was bought online. Divisions 2–9 earned $20.33 million, including the jackpot. Two runners-up got $281,829 each.
Last year, the $160 million jackpot was also the largest payout in the history of Australian lottery games. Last year’s 22 division one Powerball winners were split between New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, and South Australia.
